Bilingual Publisher

The Client

Our client is a local public sector organisation who are seeking a new Bilingual Publisher to support the Publications Officer in the timely production of publications. Please note this is a 9 month contract

The Role

We are looking for a fluent Welsh speaker, with knowledge and experience of publishing, formatting and proofreading documents (such as reports, press releases and letters). Central to this job this person will also be required to translate small-scale documentsb from English to Welsh and vice versa. 

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Publications Co-ordinator in the timely production of publications;
  • Advise and assist staff on publication policies and procedures
  • Carry out small-scale translation and support the Welsh Language Officer in advising staff on translation policies and procedures; and
  • Support the wider Communications team, as required, such as with events and external communications.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook)
  • Experience of working in a communications and/or publishing environment essential
  • Experience of both English and Welsh proofreading essential
  • Experience of working in a bilingual environment would be an advantage
  • Familiar with Adobe InDesign (or similar desktop publishing software) or willingness to learn
  • Familiar with content management systems or willingness to learn
  • Experience of working in a communications and/or publishing environment essential
  • Experience of both English and Welsh proofreading essential
  • Experience of working in a bilingual environment would be an advantage
  • Member of the Association of Welsh Translators and Interpreters desirable
  • Undergone Society of Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) training or willingness to learn

Rewards

  • Basic salary of £15,783 - £20,250 + excellent benefits
