The leading legal awards celebrating excellence in WalesEstablished in 2019 by Lux Family Law, the Wales Legal Awards celebrate the success of those teams practising in and providing services to the legal profession in Wales. Yolk are honoured to be the headline sponsors for the event for a second year in a row. The judging panels comprises a diverse range of highly experienced and peer-regarded individuals in their field who each offer a unique perspective and point of reference when assessing nominations and interviewing those shortlisted.Categories include corporate and commercial law, real estate law, private client, residential and conveyancing law, employment law and commercial litigation. This year, the Wales Legal Awards will include five new awards to cater for excellence in economically and socially significant legal specialisms in Wales: Personal Injury team of the year; Public Law Team of the Year; Law firm of the Year and Boutique Law Firm of the Year.The finalists were announced on the 24th of June, and the full list of categories and final nominees can be found on the Wales Legal Awards website. Bitcoin Tech Talk: Build a TS System

Kicking us off is a deep-dive into the theory of threshold signatures (TS), where we are joined by blockchain researcher, Michaella Pettit. Michaella will be guiding us through the basics of threshold systems, why they are used and how they can help blockchain-based developers improve the security and functionality of applications. Bitcoin Tech Talk
Our first TechTalk of the year will dive into the contemporary topic of Bitcoin, lead by Jack Davies, Research and Development scientist in blockchain technology at nChain. Six experts working at the cutting edge of blockchain research and development will be leading an interactive evening of two sessions, each with interactive presentations followed by guided exercises and a workshop. The descriptions of the two sessions are as follows: - Session 1: Digital Signatures and Bitcoin Script - Computer required: For participation in the workshop, but others may also simply listen to the talk. Before the session: Download the sCrypt IDE here: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=bsv-scrypt.sCrypt This session will cover an introduction to digital signatures, ECDSA and the theory behind how they are used to implement complex payment conditions in Bitcoin, which will include an introduction to the Bitcoins scripting language and its execution and validation engines. The session will give the opportunity to practice generating and signing Bitcoin transactions from scratch, and give developers the chance to write their own custom Bitcoin locking script. - Session 2: Threshold Signatures, Key-Splitting and Security - Computer required: For participation in the workshop, but others may also simply listen to the talk. Before the session: Download the Nakasendo SDK here: https://nakasendoproject.org/ This session will introduce advanced concepts about how to securely distribute keys and key-shares among multiple parties to maximise security for Bitcoin-related applications and payments systems. This will cover key-splitting techniques, including modern threshold signature schemes used to secure Bitcoin SV wallets. The attendees will then be able to practice implementing threshold signatures as part of the workshop. After the success of our latest HR Insights we're be back this November with a new location for our next session at the Voco St David's Hotel in Cardiff Bay.We're happy to announce a new guest speaker, Sandra Cutler from Dyslecsia Cymru/Wales Dyslexia who will be joining Anna Denton-Jones of Refreshing Law Ltd. This session will aim to discuss the topic of neurodiversity in the workplace. Some of the questions we will look into include:What is neurodiversity?Are we neurodiverse?What does neurodiversity mean for employers?What does case law tell us about neurodiversity?Wales Dyslexia have requested us to collect questions for their talk. HR Insights: Mental Health & Employee Well-being
Due to popular demand, we'll be tackling the ever present, and increasingly important topic of Mental Health & Employee Well-being: supporting our workforce. Anna will be back, along with another guest speaker, and we'll also be including a knowledge sharing session for everyone to take part in. We're thrilled to be joined by Platfform (previously Gofal) who will be discussing their work on mental health and social change. Anna Denton-Jones of Refreshing Law will be focusing upon the latest disability discrimination case law so that delegates can get more of an understanding of their duties in this field, and Anna will be sharing common pitfalls employers get into trouble with. We're sticking with the start time of 9am and will run through until midday, with the full day's agenda to be released closer to the date. We're back with Meet : Market 7 on the 4th July at Yolk's offices, where we'll be exploring Traditional V Digital Marketing. We've managed to book in another two fantastic guest speakers who will explore two areas within the traditional and digital space, and as always there'll be drinks and pizza available for all! We're really excited to welcome Sue Carter and Stephen Priestnall to the Meet Market community. Sue has a wide marketing background including digital, publishing, broadcasting and culture change, having worked at the BBC, Loteri Cymru and Yahoo, to name just a few. Stephen Priestnall founded the Wales based Oomph Agency, who specialise in customer experience and have previously worked with the likes of Mercedez-Benz, Volkswagen, Oxfam and Music Magpie.
