Estimator (Mechanical Engineering)

A new opportunity has been created for a Mechanical Engineer who can read engineering drawings and understands machining processes to take their career in a new direction as an Estimator, helping the Estimating team to correctly price their work.  The company is an innovative and market leading engineering business has a high value niche product that’s an essential component to a broad customer base operating in numerous sectors, so work will be varied and you’ll get to see your work from concept to delivery.  You’ll be supported as you develop your understanding of the specialist work here and become a confident Estimator, with opportunities to gain additional qualifications and progress your career in any number of directions. 


This is what you’ll be doing

After spending time in each area of the business to better understand the big picture, you’ll work under the guidance of experienced colleagues to interpret engineering drawings, agree the right manufacturing processes and calculate an appropriate cost using Excel and other Microsoft Office packages.

You’ll work with colleagues throughout the business and shop floor to make the right decisions and improve your own knowledge and skills.  You’ll go on to manage a number of varied and interesting orders simultaneously, working with a methodical and accurate approach. 

The experience you’ll bring to the team

  • A Mechanical qualification – apprenticeship, HNC, HND. 
  • An understanding of machining processes
  • A knowledge of Excel (able to understand cells, rows, columns, basic formula and engineering data)
