We are on the lookout for a Lead Systems Engineer to work on contract with our exciting client within Aerospace engineering.
What you will be doing:
- Developing technologies and defining systems architectures to deliver an optimised Landing System solution for the next generation of aircraft.
- Working within a team of systems engineers and data scientists the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of technical solutions utilising systems engineering and data science methodologies.
- Technical steering of internal engineers, sub-contract, suppliers and partners.
- Responsible for the delivery of Engineering tasks and projects to quality, working with both the Technical and Project leaders to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Integration of the solutions within the Landing Gear System as well as other systems and structure of the Aircraft.
- Identify and work with new collaborators including non-industrial partners e.g. Research institutes and academia to seek, scope and deliver solutions.
- Identify potential customers and pitch ideas to gain support and funding.
- Co-ordination of Milestone and Technology Readiness Level Reviews including Process Assurance.
- Actively identify risk, opportunities and mitigations.
About you:
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience in Systems Engineering.
- Experience in both systems engineering (architecture or control system design) and data science is preferred but candidates may alternatively have a strong experience in one area and a willingness to diversify.
- Experience in aerospace systems and specifically landing gear systems is preferred but not essential.

- Keen to learn about broader technical and non-technical aspects of product development and delivery.

- Ideally knowledgeable of Landing Gear Systems and modern development methodologies (e.g. Digitalisation & Model Based System Engineering), but not a pre-requisite.
- Willing to travel occasionally, depending upon business needs.
