Yolk Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Project Manager to join an innovative design and manufacturing company responsible for developing a series of ground-breaking technologies into a suite of innovative products used in sectors including aviation, aerospace, maritime, defence and automotive.  

We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Project Manager with a background in or demonstrable passion for these industries and products, in a pivotal role acting as a focal point for the company to worldwide customers and to lead internal programme teams to execute requirements.

This is what you’ll be doing as Project Manager

• Act as the focal point for the company to worldwide customers

• Managing multiple projects simultaneously

• Complete programme ownership of delivery schedule

• Identify and manage programme risks, issues and opportunities to protect or improve the programme performance

• Lead internal programme teams to execute financial and resource programme requirements

• Coordinate internal activities to ensure all tasks are progressing in line with the programme requirements

• Coordinate and lead major milestone meetings with the customer (e.g. Preliminary Design Review PDR, Critical Design Review CDR, First Article Inspection FAI) and compile resulting minutes and action plans

• Represent customers’ expectations and requirements to the Engineering team to ensure alignment

• Provide weekly status updates, milestone schedules and risk analysis summaries

• Communicate programme status, on-going financial viability and identification of key issues to senior management

• Manage customer change requests and support proposals for schedule and cost related impacts

• Supports the creation of proposals, as required, in response to customer RFPs

• Acts as a mentor to junior members of the programme management team

The experience you’ll bring to the Project Manager role

• Proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects the entire design lifecycle

• Extensive internal and external stakeholder management experience

• A recognised PM Qualification (APM Project Professional Qualification (PPQ)

• Experience or passion in the Defence, Maritime, Aerospace or closely related sectors

• Technical degree or equivalent knowledge/experience

• Good commercial skills and awareness of relevant contractual aspects associated with project delivery

• A knowledge and understanding of mechanical and electrical systems

• Possess a UK driving licence and valid passport, some travel may be required.
