Our client is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to engage and work on New Build Social Housing Projects across South Wales.

Duties include :-


Subcontract procurement - enquiries, tender evaluation and placement of orders
Management of subcontractors account, control of changes, valuing and processing payments and liaison with other team members, monitoring subcontractor delivery and performance. Assessment and agreement of subcontractor variation. Agreeing final accounts and retention releases.
Measurement - Measuring drawings to quantify materials for the buyer
Specification reviews - Reviewing specifications against architects drawings, providing samples for client approval.
Budgets - Creating project budgets through the analysis of subcontract and material quotes, review of drawings and specification, developing prelim requirements and gathering of technical fees.
Prelim Reviews - Liaising with the construction team and utilising the programme to develop and monitor the site overhead costs.
Contract administration - Administration of the contract by understanding and abiding by contractual obligations
Cash flows - Preparation of cash flow and turnover forecasts and updating them on a fortnightly basis.
CVR - Preparation of cost / value reconciliations for each project and presenting the figures to senior management and directors on a monthly basis
Client Liaison - Liaise with the client for all contract variations, time delays, material approvals, attend monthly progress meeting and submission of client valuations and cash flows
Value engineering assessments - Undertaking cost exercises on alternative methods of build
Cost appraisals - Cost appraisals to be drafted fully at the early stages of a project liaising with the construction team and technical for their input

Personal attributes

  • At least 5 years experience working as a QS with recognised contractors
  • Minimum qualification of HNC/HND in Construction related QS course
  • Knowledge of the JCT Design and Build contracts
  • Works well as part of a team
  • New build residential experience
  • Computer literate
  • Commercially aware
  • Self driven
