The Opportunity
Are you looking for a hands-on role transforming, developing, and improving networks?
Yolk is working with a large, modern and entrepreneurial public sector organisation which depends on its IT services to operate and innovate effectively. You’ll take accountability for implementing large projects and maintaining and improving the estates using Cisco technologies.
If you’re comfortable just ticking along Windows 2000 and old legacy systems – this is not the job for you! The organisation invests in the network and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to be involved in large projects. The organisation also invests in its people and you will have opportunity to train and develop.
What the Senior Network Engineer will be doing:
- To work with the rest of the team monitoring and managing the network estate
- Identify and manage problems, incidents, risks, and issues.
- Troubleshooting issues and working towards resolution
- Bringing and implementing continual improvement mindset
- Oversight of device and firmware patching
- Designing and implementing changes
- Managing and prioritising multiple workloads
- Representing the team at meetings and on projects
- To hold (or have held) a CCNP or be operating at equivalent level
- A good level of technical problem solving
- A strong eye for detail
- Work well as part of a close team
- A desire to share knowledge and educate others
- Awareness of ITIL process
- Self-motivated and self-sufficient with a can-do attitude
- High level of organisation skills
- Flexible interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- An understanding and appreciation for network security
- Experience with one of Wireless technologies
- Automation and scripting experience
- Cisco experience
- SNMP monitoring
- Good Wireshark skills
- Remote role initially and working in the Newport office 1 or 2 days a week longer term
- Salary - £41,343-£50,259
