Maintenance Engineer

Maintenance Engineers ensure the continuous maintenance and improvement of equipment, site processes and services in-line with manufacturing recommended standards and legal requirements. You will promote the use of best-practice maintenance system tools and techniques, whilst ensuring they are applied according to health and safety requirements.

Maintenance Engineers will need to comply with all H&S requirements & benefit the company performance in the areas of Quality, Cost and Delivery, ultimately ensuring that the service supplied is to the highest possible standard and fits with production needs and requirements. In terms of skill requirements, you will benefit from having gained experience in a ‘lean culture’ manufacturing environment, which will have brought you broad knowledge of equipment types. 

You’ll need strong team working skills, communication skills and a good attitude, while an ability to manage tight deadlines and work under pressure is crucial.  Awareness of relevant technologies and modern improvement tools and techniques is desirable.   

Maintenance Engineer Key Responsibilities:

Your key responsibilities as a maintenance technician will include:

  • Providing and overseeing the maintenance and repair of the sites processes, services, equipment, spare system and stores in alignment with production, management needs and priorities set by the production manager/supervisor. You may also assist with the installation of new plants and processes.
  • Ensuring all the paperwork completed in line with the maintenance process/system is accurate and legible.
  • Actively supporting the production team in the application of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and all the assigned Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) required activities.  
  • Driving a continuous improvement (CI) culture throughout the production areas, actively participating in all CI activities, initiatives and Kaizen events.
  • Conducting risk assessments to make recommendations in areas such as health and safety (H&S).
  • Ensuring PPE is maintained and used as prescribed and demonstrating good housekeeping.
  • Should you have leadership responsibilities, you’ll carry out training on top of sharing experience, best practice, and other relevant knowledge & information with other colleagues.
  • Finally, you’ll need a flexible approach to work to support production needs e.g. you may be required to work shift & cover over time when required, and fulfil any other duties as required.
