Yolk Recruitment are recruiting for a Customs Officer to join our client over in Stevenage on an initial 12 month contract from their major HQ.
Are you ready to take on a key role in the dynamic field of Customs, contributing to import and export operations across various Manufacturing UK sites? Join our prestigious confidential client's in-house Customs team, where you'll enhance your specialized skills and knowledge in customs and logistics.
Responsibilities:
* Execute a full range of proactive Customs services, including managing Customs entries, coordinating imports and exports, and overseeing IPR Customs warehousing.
* Organize and prioritize your workload effectively to ensure timely customs-related activities and smooth product shipments.
* Develop, implement, and maintain efficient processes, actively contributing to continuous process improvements in the movement of goods.
* Plan, control, and execute customs monitoring in a cost-effective manner, providing crucial support to shipping and warehousing teams for successful delivery.
* Strategically support other departments by planning and delivering imports/exports to meet key deliverables.
* Prepare and distribute necessary paperwork to relevant departments and service providers.
* Provide prompt responses to internal customer requests, offering valuable advice for issue resolution.
* Participate in employee communication processes, contributing to the overall objectives of the department.
* Cultivate effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
* Support management in obtaining customs clearance, ensuring smooth shipment movement, and implementing SC&Q activities and projects aligned with business objectives.
* Review, maintain, and ensure adherence to measurement and audit systems to confirm effective use of key processes within the business.
* Stay updated in your area(s) of expertise to keep our client informed and ready to leverage new developments.
Requirements:
* Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and understanding of the customs-related environment.
* Strong understanding of current and emerging Customs and Departmental policies, processes, and procedures.
* Relevant vocational qualification or equivalent experience.
* Awareness of internal and external customer requirements.
* Solid customs knowledge.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong listening skills.
* Proficiency in the use of relevant support tools and systems, including IT skills.
* Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to contribute to the development of new ideas and provide suitable solutions for implementation.
* Proven experience working to deadlines, timetables, multitasking, and prioritizing.
* Ability to support the achievement of significant milestones, targets, and outputs.
