Electrical Projects Engineer

Location: Bridgwater

Salary: £50,000

Shift: Monday - Friday Days

A growing and well-established manufacturer in Bridgwater is looking to recruit an Electrical Projects Engineer to support ongoing investment across its production facilities.

This is a hands-on role focused on machinery installation, automation and electrical projects, working closely with the engineering team to support the delivery of new equipment and production improvements across site.

The position would suit an electrically biased engineer with strong experience in PLC-controlled manufacturing environments, who enjoys working on installations, commissioning and automation improvements rather than purely reactive maintenance.

The Role

Working as part of the engineering team, you will support electrical and automation projects across the site.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Supporting installation and commissioning of new production machinery
  • Delivering electrical aspects of CAPEX projects across manufacturing lines
  • Installing electrical containment, cabling and control panels for new equipment
  • Carrying out on-site electrical work including cable pulling, terminations and testing
  • Supporting upgrades, relocations and modifications of existing machinery
  • PLC fault finding and diagnostics on production equipment
  • Supporting PLC programming and controls modifications where required
  • Commissioning equipment including PLCs, HMIs, drives and automation systems
  • Working alongside OEMs and system integrators during machinery installs
  • Supporting automation and controls improvement projects across production lines
  • Maintaining electrical schematics, PLC backups and system documentation

This role offers a varied mix of electrical installation work, automation support and project delivery within a live manufacturing environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong electrical engineering background within manufacturing or production environments
  • Experience working on PLC controlled machinery
  • PLC fault finding experience (Siemens systems ideal)
  • Exposure to PLC programming or controls modifications beneficial
  • Experience with inverters / VSDs, motors, sensors and control panels
  • Experience supporting machinery installations or engineering projects
  • Comfortable working alongside OEMs or system integrators
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Engineers from FMCG, food production, pharmaceutical, packaging or automotive manufacturing environments are all encouraged to apply.

  • Salary £50,000
  • Overtime available paid at 1.5x hourly rate
