Yolk Recruitment is partnered with a well-established engineering business to recruit a Lead Test Engineer / Test Manager for a 12 month contract. This is a hands-on lead role where you'll manage a small team of engineers and technicians, oversee test and development projects, and ensure the smooth running of a busy laboratory environment.

This is what you'll be doing

Leading the test laboratory, managing engineers and technicians day to day.
Carry out an active role in test activities, as you see fit.
Planning and overseeing test and development work, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the right standard.
Driving continuous improvement through lean tools including 5S, visual management and standard work.
Coaching and developing team members, setting goals, and creating a culture of openness, innovation, and accountability.

The experience you'll bring to the team

Background in an engineering laboratory or test environment.
Experience of hydraulics and/or electro-hydraulics.
Leadership experience, with proven ability to manage and motivate a small technical team.
Knowledge of data acquisition systems and test processes.
Practical mindset, confident in planning work, solving problems, and making improvements.
