Pay: £40,000
Location: Weston-super-Mare

Are you a mechanically strong engineer looking for a stable days-based role with variety, ownership and involvement in new installations and upgrades?

Yolk Recruitment is supporting a long-established engineering business that works with major OEMs across it's sector. The site carries out machining, assembly and testing of components and has a small, supportive engineering team looking to add another experienced pair of hands.

This is what you'll be doing

The Maintenance Engineer will take responsibility for keeping a wide range of machinery running safely and efficiently while supporting the development of a growing maintenance system.

Responsibilities:

Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across CNC machines, manual lathes, mills, grinders and hydraulic/ mechanical presses.

Strip, repair and replace motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, hydraulics and pneumatics.

Work confidently on basic electrical fault finding within panels (relays, sensors, drives) - PLC work is limited to I/O checks.

Assist with project work including machinery relocations, new conveyor installs and small fabrication jobs.

Help build and improve the site's PPM system as the team transitions away from older reactive practices.

Carry out checks on site hoists and lifting equipment (major LOLER work handled by contractors).

Ensure safe working practices, including LOTO and basic compliance checks.

Look after industrial washers, shot blasters, strip-down benches and test rigs used in the remanufacturing process.

Work closely with the site engineering manager, project team and several graduate engineers.

And this is what you'll bring

Time-served or apprentice-trained mechanical engineer.

Strong hands-on background with machining, rebuild, fitting, or workshop-based engineering.

Basic electrical competency (isolation, fault-finding, panel work).

Comfortable working with older machinery as well as supporting upgrades.

Welding experience is desirable but not essential - training can be provided.

Able to read mechanical drawings and understand machine operation.

Proactive, practical and confident getting stuck into varied engineering work.

And this is what you'll get in return

Salary around £40,000

Monday to Friday days + every second week with a rest day in the week

24 days holiday + bank holidays

Enhanced overtime

Pension and life assurance

Supportive culture and access to experienced engineers and project professionals

Strong job security within a long-established, well-invested site
