Senior Multiskilled Engineer - Days
📌 Senior Multiskilled Engineer
📍 Ebbw Vale
💰 £45-50,000
🕐 Days - Monday to Friday
Yolk Recruitment is supporting a leading business in Ebbw Vale in their search for a hands-on Senior Multiskilled Engineer to take ownership of their engineering operation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced multiskilled maintenance engineer who enjoys autonomy, wants to step up into a senior role, and is motivated by improving plant uptime, standards, and safety on a days-based shift.
Role overview
As the Senior Multiskilled Engineer, you'll be the go-to person for all things maintenance and engineering on site, owning the day-to-day reliability of the site. You'll balance hands-on electrical and mechanical work with planning, prioritising, and driving a proactive maintenance culture alongside the operations team.
Working closely with site leadership, you'll help shape maintenance strategy, support continuous improvement projects, and ensure the site runs safely, efficiently, and in line with strict environmental and operational standards.
What you'll be doing
- Taking lead responsibility for the safe and efficient running of all assets, prioritising breakdown response and root-cause fixes.
- Planning, carrying out, and improving PPM schedules to minimise downtime and extend equipment life in a harsh, heavy‑industrial environment.
- Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repair on conveyors, drives, motors, pumps and associated plant, including basic PLC/controls fault diagnosis where required.
- Coordinating and overseeing any external contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, to spec, and with minimal impact on production.
- Identifying and delivering engineering improvements, from reliability upgrades and small CAPEX projects to layout and safety enhancements.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records, ensuring statutory checks and compliance activities are completed on time.
- Acting as a technical lead and point of support for operators and any other engineers on site, helping to build a right‑first‑time, continuous improvement mindset.
What you'll bring
- Time-served apprenticeship and relevant engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / ONC / HNC or similar) in electrical or mechanical maintenance.
- Strong multiskilled background with solid electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills in a production or industrial environment.
- Experience working in heavy manufacturing, or similarly demanding settings where reliability and safety are critical.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to lead, make decisions, and prioritise workload without constant supervision.
- Comfortable balancing reactive work with planned and improvement activities, and able to engage production teams to get the best overall outcome for the plant.
- A genuine focus on H&S and environmental standards, with the discipline to follow and improve procedures.
What you'll get in return
- A competitive days-based salary of upto £50,000 (DOE) with opportunities for progression as the site and operation continue to develop.
- The autonomy and responsibility of a Senior role, where your ideas and decisions have a direct impact on uptime, safety, and performance.
- The chance to work for a business with a strong environmental focus, investing in its people, equipment, and preventative maintenance to keep a challenging site running safely and efficiently.
- Holiday, pension, and additional benefits in line with a permanent role at an established manufacturer.
