My client, a leading commercial organisation based in central Bristol is looking to recruit a Python Developer into their existing team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a very unique business who operate in the third sector on a global scale. The work they do really matters and has a serious impact on service users. You will join a team of full stack developers who genuinely enjoy the work that they do and the reason why they do it.
This is what you’ll be doing
- Part of a team that build new and improve existing open-source software
 - Improving the quality of that software through incremental refactoring, automation and continuous deployments
 - Leading DevOps processes
 - Improving understanding of data through the products the organisation maintains and supports
 - Working with technical experts from governments, foundations, NGOs and developing country agencies to improve the range of tools and data available to end users
 - Participating fully in the Technical Advisory Group
 - Tracking, analysing, fixing and reporting software bugs and issues
 - Monitoring usage of software by our users
 - Participating in technical discussions and work to improve the Standard
 - Advising on its technical strategy
 - Mentoring junior developers
 
The experience you’ll bring to the team
- DevOps and sysadmin experience - e.g. Docker / Ansible / Debian
 - Good knowledge of Python, Flask, Django and SQL
 - Understanding of software design principles
 - Ability to write code that scales and is well tested
 - Interest in using your technical skills for social good
 - A continuous learner, interested in self-improvement
 - A collaborative approach and a 'can do’ attitude
