Workshop Team Leader - Prep & Paint

Yolk Recruitment are supporting the recruitment of a Prep & Paint Team Leader to manage preparation, painting, and post-paint assembly within a busy manufacturing environment. This role will take responsibility for production flow, quality, safety, and team leadership across the paint and prep areas.

You'll play a key role in ensuring painted units are delivered right first time, supporting downstream assembly while maintaining high quality and safety standards. This role suits an experienced leader from a paint, prep, or finishing background.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the prep and paint team to meet daily production targets.
  • Plan and prioritise prep and paint activities to maximise throughput and minimise delays.
  • Run daily start-of-shift briefings covering safety, quality, and production plans.
  • Ensure all pre- and post-paint quality checks are completed and recorded.
  • Manage paint and consumable stock levels, escalating shortages early.
  • Coordinate paint schedules with production requirements to ensure parts are available on time.
  • Maintain paint booths, equipment, and stores to required standards.
  • Take ownership of factory standards including housekeeping, 5S, and material storage.
  • Coach and develop your team, supporting training and cross-skilling.
  • Drive continuous improvement by reducing rework and improving paint quality.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and environmental procedures.
  • Work closely with other team leaders to ensure smooth handovers between departments.

  • Previous experience in a team leader or supervisory role.
  • Strong focus on quality, safety, and organisation.
