Recruiter Insights: Women in Marketing & Embracing Inclusion

Women In Marketing Yolk Recruitment

news ...

International Women's Day is the perfect time to celebrate the incredible women shaping the marketing industry. Yolk has asked our Marketing recruitment talent consultant, Olivia Pendrey, to put forward her personal insights and opinion into the impact of inclusive hiring processes in the marketing sphere, as well as highlighting the progression barriers that continue to exist in 2024.

Levelling the Playing Field

As a recruiter, I'm continuously inspired by the determination and talent of the women I work with. This day reminds us of the importance of equality and creating opportunities for women to thrive. It’s time to celebrate the achievements of women in marketing and commit to building a more inclusive future where everyone has a chance to succeed.

In today's fast-paced world of marketing, it's clear that women are leading the charge. As someone greatly involved in the industry, I've seen first-hand how women are taking centre-stage in marketing roles, from shaping digital strategies to identifying and influencing consumer habits.

This is reinforced by recent numbers from LinkedIn, which report that women hold a staggering 60% of marketing roles. But it's not all smooth sailing.

Despite these gains, many women still face hurdles like juggling childcare and dealing with inflexible workplaces, especially when aiming for top positions. As recruiters, it's up to us to level the playing field and ensuring that women are given the same opportunities to progress as their male counterparts.

One area where women are really making waves is in influencer marketing. The numbers speak for themselves: 86% of women turn to social media for buying advice, with platforms like Instagram and TikTok being influencer hotspots. Not only this, but 77% of the influencers making money from their content are women. That's huge!

Embracing ED&I in your Hiring Strategy

All of these statistics point to the need for a fresh approach to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in marketing. Marketers have a chance to use ED&I to build trust and connect with diverse audiences to make a real impact. By embracing diversity and inclusion, marketers will not only strengthen relationships but also fuel creativity and drive meaningful change.

It is imperative that marketers are clued up on ED&I. By cultivating an inclusive atmosphere, embracing diversity, and ensuring fairness in the workplace, marketers can unlock their team's full potential and see some serious business results.

The rise of women in marketing is a game-changer. It has demonstrated that a level playing field where everyone can thrive means everyone can benefit. As recruiters, we've got a big role to play in breaking down barriers and making certain that women receive the opportunities they deserve. By embracing ED&I and tapping into the unique talents and perspectives of women in marketing, we can pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future in our industry and beyond.
