Wednesday, 16 July 2025 | 9:00 to 11:30

Five years on, we're beginning to see the long-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the workplace. For example, hybrid work models are perceived to be the standard rather than a benefit - but what about the way we handle ill-health absence?

Join us on Wednesday 16th July as Anna Denton-Jones of Refreshing Law takes us through the steps employers should be taking to manage sick leave following the effects of the pandemic.

Anna is our resident legal expert and will be covering:

  • How to manage employees with more complex needs-not just one disability, but multiple disabilities.

  • How absence might be used to elongate processes (disciplinaries, redundancies, performance management, etc.)

  • How medical reports are changing and how this doesn't always help.

  • The tidal wave of mental health issues post-Covid and the challenges this poses for employers.

  • How to manage ill-health absence in instances when employees are working remotely (knowing whether they are working whilst ill or absent when they should be in work).

  • The changes to come, including changes to the payment of statutory sick pay from day one of absence instead of day four.

We will also be welcoming Lousha Reynolds to this session.

As usual you will have the opportunity to ask questions and get free advice!

PLEASE NOTE: This event is being held at Yolk Recruitment's new home! We are now based in the brand-new Recolution Group HQ, just next door from our old office. Previously on Floor 1 of Anchor Court South, we're now on Floor 2 of Anchor Court North. Recolution Group HQ is a short 15 minute walk from Cardiff Queen Street railway station, and also offers free on-site parking with tea, coffee, and pastries provided.
