Waste Water Asset Engineer
Home/Flexible working with site visits across Wales
Covering West and South Wales across to Hereford
Contract – 5 year contract
£450 - £550 per day
Monday – Friday
Asset Engineer
Are you a Technical expert within waste water treatment? Do you have demonstrable experience covering Design, Commissioning, Operation and Asset management? Due to increased workload I am proud to bring to market this varied and stimulating role. As Asset Engineer you will play a lead role in identifying operational mitigation and asset needs with particular focus on quality and growth. Reporting directly to the Asset Manager your role as Asset Engineer will be providing essential services to customers across Wales making a major contribution to public health and to the protection of the Welsh environment.

Review and gain agreement/ sign off of business-critical proposals
Facilitate post project reviews, promote best practice, and look for innovation opportunities. Capture and share lessons learned with the wider business.
Interface with Operations, Asset Strategy and Delivery teams to ensure the Capital Investment Programme is targeted
Work closely with Wastewater Treatment operational teams to establish root cause of prioritised schemes, primarily on risks which affect the process performance in particular on quality and growth
Act as Client Liaison throughout the Capital Delivery process, seeing projects through from feasibility to project handover
Ensure that Operations are represented throughout the Capital Investment process and information communicated to them in a timely manner
Optimise performance, understand risk and prioritise investment in line with whole life cost
Use Investment Manager in conjunction with Wastewater Assets Risk Team to ensure a consistent risk scoring methodology is in place and is being correctly used throughout the AMP6 Gateway Process
Identify and implement best practice from across the business and assess opportunities for innovation alongside the IST, and lead on some innovation projects.
Identify areas for efficiency and Operational cost savings throughout the Investment Programme
Follow the requirements of the AMP6/7 Capital Delivery Processes acting as the Client on behalf of Operations throughout the gateway processes from Feasibility to Project Handover
Review and analyse asset performance data, compliance performance and maintenance records to identify courses of action and provide information to support Gateway decisions
Ensure operational mitigation for risks and needs are identified and communicated using the corporate system (Investment Manager)
Liaise with Waste Water Assets teams, Developer Services, operational and capital delivery teams to ensure their needs and
concerns are addressed and promote the team’s services and expertise.
Influence solutions to ensure projects satisfy operational needs, are fit for purpose and to the required standard whilst achieving required statutory and business outputs
Provide reports to articulate risk and benefits delivered through capital interventions
Ensure lessons learnt / successes on projects completed are disseminated through the Waste Assets team and in Capital Delivery and Operations
Develop and maintain good, consistent working relationships with Operations, Capital Delivery and Alliance Partners
Establish root cause of needs that are to be progressed through the Gateway Process, ensuring the necessary documentation is completed for addition to the corporate system (Investment Manager) and is used to support Gateway decisions
Ensure outline costs for solutions (IB release) are realistic and generated by Unit Cost Database
Maintain good communication with the wider business
Summarise and document investigation data to support decision process
The experience and behaviours you’ll bring to the team will include….
A minimum of 5 years Waste Water treatment design experience
CSCS card holder
A full UK Driving licence
Problem solver
Process design experience
The ability to interpret data
A detailed knowledge of DCWW systems
Process commissioning experience
Highly IT literate
Detailed planning and enactment of site and survey work
Qualified to degree level or equivalent
