Azure Data Architect - Fully Remote - 6 Months - £Negotiable - Immediate Start - OUTSIDE IR35
We now have an incredibly exciting requirement for another position within a team we've helped build over here in South Wales. A 6 month contract for a lead Data Engineer/Data Architect who will provide guidance to a team of three that we know personally. You will also play a part in Data Engineering and Data Architecture work. The Lead Data Engineer/Azure Data Architect will lead the way in defining architecture for a huge utilities project to meet requirements across the organisation, whilst still being very hands-on in engineering. The project will be built in Azure, and you will regularly work with components such as Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Event Grid and Azure Storage. Day-to-day responsibilities will include developing and enhancing data pipelines, defining data models analysing data quality, as well as mentoring other Data Engineers.
Responsibilities:
The Data Architect part of the role will cover working on the design and hands on development of a range of the following:
Data Strategy, Architectures and Governance
Data Management and Security
Data Integrations using Azure Data Factory, Data Bricks and APIs
Data Repositories in SQL Server and Analysis Services
Storytelling, Reports and Data Visualisations using Microsoft Power BI
Data Modelling, SQL and Data Warehouse and Reporting solutions
Key deliverables will be the High-Level Design document and Logical and Conceptual Models.
Experience Needed:
A Lead Data Engineer who ideally has high level Data Architecture experience.
The person should have and at least 5 years of experience and possess the following skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lead a small team of data engineers
Ability to estimate workload accurately and assign across the team
Provide knowledge transfer to project team members
Strong Data Engineering background with expert level Azure Data Factory skills
Strong experience across the Microsoft Azure Data Stack, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse and Azure SQL
Python and/or Pyspark experience essential
T-SQL experience
Strong experience of Azure Functions and Databricks
DevOps/Git repository code promotion and change management experience.
Strong experience in maintaining and optimizing the Azure Synapse (Data Warehouse) to maximize performance
The ability to manage time, prioritise tasks, self-review work and produce deliverables of a high quality under tight client deadlines in time pressured environments
Experience in working in a collaborative environment with other developers outside of Data Engineering
Experience of using CI/CD techniques and processes in Azure DevOps
Web App and Database Development
Experience of Data Modelling utilising the Kimball methodology essential
Enterprise architecture
Cloud Azure experience using the Azure Data Stack
Customer and stakeholder facing – ensuring standards are met, engineers are enabled and security and governance requirements are met
Experienced in Azure DevOps
The ability to document assets created.
