Clinical Negligence Secretary
UK – Newport – Highly regarded firm – Competitive Salary

Yolk Recruitment is working with a local firm with offices in Newport and Cardiff covering a diverse range of the law, from conveyancing and personal injury, family law and wills and probate, clinical negligence and care, right through to commercial, employment law and dispute resolution.

This role sits within the Clinical Negligence team which provides a wide range of advice to private and public sector bodies ranging from matters such as complex birth injury to care home negligence.
 
Within this position you would be working on sensitive matters alongside paralegals, junior solicitors reporting to the Clinical Negligence Partner.
 
This is what you'll be doing 

As a Clinical Negligence Secretary you will deal with a varied case load of Clinical Negligence matters and will be responsible for the following:
 
  • Assist fee earners ensuring all routine administrative processes are managed along as well diary management
  • Prepare correspondence through audio typing and word processing.
  • Deal with post and drafting replies accordingly.
  • Administer filing relating to Clinical Negligence matters including opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files.
  • Resolving debit or credit balances.
  • Manage diaries, taking minutes of meetings circulating as appropriate.
  • Attend to clients in person or on the telephone.
  • Deal with clients queries whenever possible referring matters to the fee earner as and when necessary.
 
This is what you'll bring to the Team

You will have experience working in secretarial and administrative practices and possess excellent word-processing and audio typing skills with proven high standards of accuracy, quality and timeliness.
 
In addition to the above you will be: -
 
  • Initiative to make basic decisions in relation to client matters.
  • Be self-motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Be capable to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and reallocate work accordingly
 
Though not essential, you will also have the following: -
 
  • Experience of working in a legal office in a secretarial or administrative capacity.
  • Experience of working with Case Management Systems
  • An understanding of Videss, accounts ledgers and digital dictation systems
