What you’ll be doing as a DevOps Engineer

 

We have an exciting opportunity to join an IT team in an evolving DevOps function within the IT Platform and Digital Enablement team, supporting the department during the digital transformation journey. Working within an established team (the DevOps Enablement Team), this role provides an opportunity to turn innovative ideas into customer value using a range of technologies and delivery platforms.

work on a range of technologies with a focus on build and deployment automation, test automation and continuous improvement. This is a varied role involving a mix of support work, team work within agile delivery teams and longer term strategic improvement initiatives. You will have strong technical experience in one or more of Java, .Net, Jenkins and Azure DevOps pipelines as well as scripting experience with Powershell, Windows Batch and/or bash.
 

What you’ll bring to the role as a DevOps Engineer:

Technical skills

Understanding of DevOps principles and experience of working in a DevOps or iterative development culture.
- Demonstrable experience of using continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) tools, including pipeline implementation.
- Awareness of automated testing and embedding this in CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills with experience in service support.
- Scripting skills in one or more of the following:
o Windows Batch
o Powershell
o Bash
- Experience in configuration of Azure DevOps Pipelines (preferred), Jenkins or other CI/CD orchestration tools.
- Experience supporting the build and deployment of one or more of the following:
o Java / .Net
- Experience in using one or more of the following source control tools:
o Git / SVN / TFS
