Looking to step up from Project Engineer into a more client-facing role?
We're recruiting for a Project Manager to join a specialist engineering business delivering bespoke machinery across the UK and Europe.
This role is ideal for someone with a couple of years' experience in a project-based engineering role who's ready to take on more ownership, client interaction, and responsibility across the full project lifecycle.
You'll still be technically involved, but with increasing responsibility for coordination, communication, and delivery.
What you'll be doing
As a Project Manager, your role will focus on:
- Managing projects from initial enquiry through to delivery and completion
- Acting as a key point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle
- Interpreting client requirements and helping shape project specifications
- Coordinating internal teams including design, workshop and site engineers
- Supporting estimation, quotations and project planning
- Managing timelines, resources and project progress to meet agreed milestones
- Overseeing documentation including technical files, RAMS and compliance records
- Managing subcontractors and suppliers where required
- Supporting installation and commissioning phases when needed
- Tracking project costs, progress and invoicing
You'll be working closely with senior project managers and operations, gradually taking ownership of your own projects while developing into a more senior role.
What you'll need to succeed
- Background in a Project Engineer or similar role within engineering
- Around 2+ years' experience delivering engineering or process-based projects
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Good understanding of how projects move from design through to build and install
- Comfortable communicating with customers and internal teams
- Organised and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Mechanical or electrical engineering background (either bias considered)
- Experience with process systems, treatment systems or bespoke equipment would be beneficial
What you'll get in return
- Negotiable
- Annual salary review
- Monday to Friday days-based role
- Mix of office, project coordination and occasional site exposure
- Ongoing training and development with clear progression into senior roles
- Private healthcare
- Pension scheme and life insurance
- Regular company socials
- A supportive, technically strong team environment
You'll be joining a well-established engineering business known for delivering complex, bespoke solutions. This is a great opportunity to develop into a fully-fledged Project Manager while still staying close to the technical side of projects.
