Enterprise Applications Team Manager - £45,000pa with £10,000 bonus – Hybrid - Taunton

This is an exciting opportunity to join us as an Enterprise Applications Team Manager, leading the team providing expert level Technical advice and support to all of our enterprise systems including database platforms and SAP
 

Responsibilities include:
  • Leading the Enterprise Applications team the post-holder will work with the Deputy CIO to manage the delivery of Technical Services to internal customers and in delivering our commercial products by supporting the Enterprise Applications and services in a third line role. Leading a small team, they will manage and co-ordinate the activities within the team, promoting best practice, continuous improvement and ensuring that service targets are achieved, together with developing other team members.
  • The post holder will be part of a team providing 24*7 cover through an on-call rota and will be required to provide on-call cover outside normal working hours in accordance with the rota.
  • The post holder needs to be a team player, self-motivating, with a positive and pro-active approach to the challenges that the post demands. The post holder must be focused on the timely delivery of solutions to support the business needs at all times.
The post holder should also possess the following attributes:

  • Ability to understand the needs of the customer.
  • Experience in future planning and technology roadmaps.
  • Ability to make sound decisions.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Able to manage own workload and time efficiently. Uses initiative and ability to work unsupervised and understands the need to plan in advance and think through the potential complications. Identifies appropriate solutions to problems and acts accordingly.
  • Regularly monitor own and team’s work against milestones or targets and act promptly to keep work on track and maintain performance
  • Able to technically lead and guide team members both technically and strategically.
 

Skills / Experience:

Essential:
  • Extensive experience of one or more enterprise database platforms (Oracle or Microsoft SQL) or SAP in a 3rd line support and technical design capacity.
  • Extensive experience of technical management (managing support capabilities at an organisational level)
  • Extensive experience of managing other technical staff. Identify and develop all talented team members to support succession planning, devoting time to coach, mentor and develop others.
  • Practical extensive experience of enterprise database technologies (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Track record of designing, developing, and managing databases across a range of applications and services.
  • Expertise with analysing database platforms to identify performance or reliability improvements or to debug complex operational incidents.
Desirable:
  • Experience of other database technologies such as Postgres, MySQL, etc
