Export & Logistics Supervisor

A global leader in advanced manufacturing with an 80 year record of success, consistent growth and reinvestment in the last 10 years and ambitious plans for continued growth has a new opportunity for an Export & Logistics Supervisor to join their business in a key role within the logistics department. 

This is what you’ll be doing

Leading a small team in Export/Logistics and the Warehouse, you’ll help to develop and shape these departments as they grow, leading by example and setting a high standard of work practice, bringing and developing your knowledge of export processes, documentation and overseas customs requirements. 

Core duties include:

• Oversee and develop a small team in a fast paced manufacturing environment
• Focus on cost control, value for money and optimisation of all aspects of freight, shipping and export
• Run departmental meetings to share daily team and customer requirements, including updates on stock and logistical movements
• Strong customer orientation and good customer service skills
• Innovative and good at problem solving/using initiative. Candidate will be required to liaise closely with freight forwarders, suppliers and overseas agents
• Ensure day to day work of the department is completed effectively and in a timely manner
• Support with general administration and filing of departmental information including processing of orders/generating shipping documents
• Be able to calculate freight costs for shipments and communicate with sales team to fulfil customer despatch/ on time requirements
• Have experience of coordinating logistics by Sea, Air and Land
• Support and develop internal training for team members on export and logistics procedures
• The experience you’ll bring to the team
• Ability to and experience of leading and developing a small logistics/export team
• Strong IT skills, including MS excel
• Excellent communication skills with a customer orientated 'can do, will do' attitude
• Strong knowledge of export/logistics processes, export licensing and import/export regulations and customs requirements worldwide
• Experience of working with freight forwarders and couriers
• Knowledge of generating shipping documents for clearance purposes and according to requirements
• Stock management and experience of optimising cost control
• Be able to drive business improvement initiatives and use initiative
