The Role of Access and Participation Officer
As an Access and Participation Officer, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing the regulatory framework for our client. Your primary focus will be on delivering key processes, work streams, and projects related to access and participation plans. You will support the Regulation Directorate in promoting equitable access to English higher education, regardless of student background. This role involves policy development, program management, and engaging with a variety of stakeholders to ensure effective practice and compliance with regulatory standards.
The Requirements
- Experience and Skills:
- Proven ability to manage key processes and projects independently, often with competing pressures or challenging stakeholders (Level III).
- Competent in improving and implementing processes to support change (Level III).
- Understanding of current research, data, legislation, and the broader information landscape relevant to access and participation or skills and industrial strategy (Level II).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercising good judgement and aligning with business and strategic plans, with an understanding of when to seek advice or escalate issues (Level II).
- Skill in synthesising complex information to produce clear, credible advice that supports Directorate and organisational goals (Level II).
- Knowledge of regulatory levers to inform work development and implementation, including assessments and recommendations (Level II).
- Professional and Personal Attributes:
- Commitment to developing and sharing expertise while learning from others (Level III).
- Comprehensive understanding of access and participation functions within the Directorate.
- Proven ability to deliver internal projects effectively, prioritising workload and adapting to changing demands.
- Effective communication skills for developing professional relationships with a range of stakeholders and presenting to external groups.
- Capability to mentor colleagues and provide guidance on good working practices.
