HARDWARE/ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS - Negotiable Salary DOE - STAFFORDSHIRE - 2 STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

Yolk Recruitment are recruiting for multiple Hardware/Electrical Engineers to join our client in Staffordshire for exciting new programmes.

Role Overview:

As a pivotal figure within our client's engineering team, you will be entrusted with the responsibility to lead and drive the project team. This entails ensuring meticulous compliance with established procedures, methods, and standards in engineering design. Your multifaceted role includes reviewing and approving designs, interpreting customer-supplied data, and spearheading the creation/modification of comprehensive Design Packs. From system designs to the meticulous production of documentation, including FDS, Test Documentation, Manuals, and more, you will play a critical role in supporting the entire project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Driving: Lead and drive the project team to achieve excellence in project delivery.

  • Design Review: Review and approve designs developed by the team, ensuring adherence to high-quality standards.

  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure the team's compliance with agreed-upon procedures/methods and uphold engineering design responsibilities.

  • Data Interpretation: Interpret and verify customer-supplied data, specifications, and drawings to inform the design process.

  • System Designs: Lead the creation/modification of Design Packs, including system drawings, general arrangements, schematics & wiring diagrams, site cable drawings, etc.

  • Documentation Production: Produce client design documentation and test documentation, including all necessary documentation to support system production, such as FDS, Test Documentation, Manuals, etc.

  • Site Surveys and Health and Safety: Lead site surveys and assist in the preparation of Health and Safety Documentation.

  • Support for Testing and Commissioning: Provide support for site acceptance testing and commissioning activities.

  • Tender Document Preparation: Support the production of tender documents and cost estimates.

Essential Skills:

  • Specialized Experience: Experience or competency in control systems within the nuclear market or a regulated industry.

  • Cabling Systems Proficiency: Experience or competency in field cabling systems (P, Inst, Contr, and comms), including surveying, identifying routes, cable calculations for sizing, and earthing/protection.

  • Control Panel Design: Experience or competency in control panel design incorporating PLC, I/O, Comms cards, UPS's, etc.

  • Educational Background: At least a degree level education in a relevant subject or an HND with additional experience, ideally 5 years postgraduate/HND experience on successful project implementation in the specified areas.

  • Technical Proficiency: Computer literate with experience in Word, AutoCAD, and Excel. A methodical approach to interpreting customer requirements and delivering project documentation.

  • Project Lifecycle Understanding: Understanding of the Full Project Lifecycle.

  • Driving License: Hold a current full driving license (UK or be able to easily convert to full UK).

  • Mentorship and Leadership: Willingness to develop/mentor junior engineers, lead their professional progression, and peer-review work.

Desirable Skills:

Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating some or all of the following:

  • Specialist/extended knowledge or experience in Rockwell (Control Logix), Siemens (PC7S, TIA Portal), or Schneider (M580, M340).

  • Experience in Motor Control Centres - Specification, procurement, installation, etc.

  • Awareness/understanding of DSEAR Regulations and Hazardous area applications.

  • Awareness/understanding of Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511).

  • Site Installation and Commissioning experience of control systems.

  • Good understanding of BS7671 IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regs.

  • Ability to work to deadlines and budgets.

  • Familiarity with Databases.
