The Opportunity
Yolk Recruitment Public Sector & Not-for-Profit team has partnered with a large public sector organisation to recruit a Head of DevOps to join an organisation which depends on its IT services to operate and innovate effectively.

The role of the Head of DevOps is to support the IT Senior Leadership team, the IT Extended Leadership Team, and the wider IT team to provide reliable quality services to our internal and external customers.

They are offering a salary of up to £67,00 with an employer pension contribution of 27.9% and a strong focus on learning and development opportunities. They offer hybrid working with no set rule of an office working pattern. Their offices are based in Newport.

Candidates must be a resident of the UK and DO NOT REQUIRE SPONSORSHIP

What the Head of DevOps will be doing
In this role your duties will include producing plans to integrate automation and monitoring at all steps of the software development life cycle (SDLC), embed a DevOps culture to provide better software agility, improve deployment time and advocating the use of automation and Cloud technologies across IT, as well as looking at best practice and continual improvement.

* Leads and manage (a team of) Senior / Lead DevOps Engineers with responsibility for enabling their professional development and performance along with taking responsibility for the technical output and direction of the team
* Act as a mentor and coach other Senior / Lead DevOps engineers
* Work closely with the Head of Cloud and Head of DBA

What the successful Head of DevOps will bring to the team
Whilst hands-on technical experience is not required you should be used to working in a fast moving, agile IT environment with technical professionals. The role also necessitates a drive to stay abreast of latest developments, techniques, and technologies, and to identify and promote technical advances that would bring improved value to the organisation.

* Experience of line management and recruitment
* Experience with DevOps practices or working within a DevOps culture
* Experience with modern delivery models such as Scrum and Agile
