Health & Safety Officer

£30,000 - £35,000 per annum plus benefits
Cardiff

 

I am working exclusively with an Engineering business who pride themselves on 50 years in business offering Industry leading experience supplying products to a wide variety of long-standing customers in the UK. Due to recent changes they currently require a Health & Safety Officer with a strong awareness of COSH. This role forms part of a strong team offering a friendly, family feel environment within a growing and secure market.

 

As Health & Safety Officer you’ll be

 

·        Responsible for administration and management of key health and safety officer activities, including: accident forms, toolbox talks, H&S information, safety alerts, and the staff newsletter

·        Organising H&S training, maintaining in-house training records, updating the training matrix, and issuing certificates, when required.

·        Organise DSE training and assessments for new starters

·        Researching products and equipment, ensuring we are operating as safely and cost effective as possible

·        Carrying out regular visual checks of first aid boxes, fire extinguishers/pulled pins, H&S information and posters after updates.

·        Managing the internal H&S committee meetings with relevant department representatives

·        Assisting heads of departments in ensuring that all H&S records are maintained

·        Managing all accidents, RIDDOR’s, near misses and H&S paperwork

·        Ensuring all non-conformities and deficiency reports are investigated and corrective actions taken Carrying out risk assessments and safe systems of work

·        Maintaining in-house training records and training matrix, issuing certificates when required

·        Providing H&S training to departmental managers

·        Promoting a positive culture of health and safety in the workplace

·        Managing fire log book and evacuations

·        Maintenance of environmental records and data entry on EPRTR system including daily olfactory logbook

·        Management of employee health surveillance regime

·        Providing H&S inductions for new staff and site visitors, as well as re-training for existing employees

 

What you’ll bring to the team

 

·        Graduate member of IOSH or above

·        BSc degree is engineering or similar is desirable

·        Previous experience in a H&S role, ideally in a similar sector where you would have managed working sites e.g., construction, etc.

·        Highly motivated individual who will be able to deal effectively with conflicting requirements Methodical and organised in their everyday workload

·        Strong awareness of COSH
