Clinical Negligence Associate - Inhouse and Private Practice
Cardiff / Home working
£50,000 - £58,000
The Opportunity
A rare opportunity to work inhouse has within the Clinical Negligence team in one of the most reputable firms in the UK. You'll sometimes be based out of the Cardiff office, with flexibility and home working also on offer.
You will be responsible for managing your own complex, high profile case load of Clinical Negligence claims. Claimant and Defendant backgrounds will be considered.
Full time and part time will be considered.
This is what you will be doing:
You will be responsible for managing your own complex, high profile case load of Clinical Negligence claims
Achieve an individual income target
To assist the Team Leader with the supervision, monitoring and development of Junior members of the team
Be pro-active and willing to get involved in business development
Contribute to the strategic direction of the team
Cross sell work to other departments within the firm
To build rapport with clients, their families, clinicians, social workers and give the best client service
Deal with enquiries from prospective new clients
Accepting instructions from new clients
Advising on costs and funding
Attend court with counsel and attend in conference with counsel
Working to strict deadlines and service level agreements using a case management system
Provide advice to clients
Attend meetings within the Department or the firm to review case work or for the purposes of supervision.
Attend training internally and externally as agreed with the Head of the Department and maintain a record of all training undertaken and CPD points.
To complete and maintain as necessary any professional documentation or records (such as a Practicing Certificate) as the Solicitors Regulation Authority or any other professional body may require.
Obtain payments on account of costs at all relevant stages and keep client advised of costs throughout the course of the case. Delivery of regular bills to the client.
Liaison within the firm with other fee earners engaged in similar and / or related cases matters.
The experience you will bring to the team:
A qualified Solicitor / Lawyer
Experience in clinical or medical negligence is essential
You must be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of clinical negligence liability and willingness to keep up to date with legal developments
Experienced using case management systems and Microsoft Office
Be IT literate
Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and accuracy
A positive attitude and be a team player
Excellent communication skills over the phone, in person and also via email.
