Role Description

As an integral part of the Inspection and Test Team, your responsibilities encompass examining and testing equipment to ensure its safety and optimal functionality. This involves utilising electrical schematic drawings and adhering to a project-specific Hardware Test Specification crafted by the accountable Hardware Engineer. The Inspection and Test Specification details essential inspections and tests, ensuring adherence to the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive, along with any other customer-specific standards integrated into the equipment's design. While primarily office-based, the role may entail occasional site work, including customer acceptance testing. System Software tests have their separate specifications, and you may also be called upon, on an ad-hoc basis, to assist the Software Team in completing their tests.

Test activities include:

  • Equipment build and configuration inspection.
  • LVD electrical safety checks.
  • Earth bond continuity test.

  • Any other equipment specific tests as detailed in the project hardware test specification.

Equipment Technologies include:

  • PLC based automation control panels.
  • IT cubicles which may contain computing and networking equipment.
  • Peripheral equipment including printers, scanners etc.

Essential requirements:

The preferred candidate should possess extensive experience and proficiency in testing wired assemblies, spanning from an individual backplate to a fully assembled control system. Key qualifications include:

  • Interpretation Skills: Capable of reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, general assembly prints, wiring schedules, and parts lists.
  • Test Procedure Implementation: Demonstrates the ability to understand and execute test procedures and instructions effectively.
  • Cubicle Inspection: Competent in inspecting and testing cubicles in alignment with company standards.
  • Documentation Management: Adept at maintaining and completing comprehensive test documentation and reports.
  • Component Knowledge: Holds operational knowledge of components, including MCB's, RCD's, Fuses, Transformers, Power supply's, and safety-critical components.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Must be proficient in the use of electronic multi-meters and other test equipment.
  • Quality Systems: Previous experience working within an ISO 9001 compliant quality system.
  • Customer Site Attendance: Willing and able to attend customer sites to witness equipment tests.
  • The ability to work towards SC clearance.

Applicants should possess a nationally recognised technical qualification in an Electrical/Electronic discipline, e.g HNC/HND, 17th Edition C&G2382 & Inspection & Test, completed a modern apprenticeship or similar.

And this is what you'll get:

  • Competitive salary
  • Flexible working
