Ip Paralegal - Cardiff

£20,000 - £30,000 DOE

A global law firm is looking for an IP paralegal to join their specialist team in the city.

Purpose of Role

To work as part of the IP Administrator team to provide a professional, approachable and efficient administrative support service to the Principal(s) in order to assist in the provision of the best possible professional advisory service to our clients.

At this level the role holder will perform their work with minimal supervision and will work autonomously on selected tasks. Proactive engagement with the work and processes is expected.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

As per an IP Administrator role +:

Assist the Principal(s) in monitoring compliance with due dates to ensure adherence to

all deadlines;

Support the development of, share knowledge and assist Intellectual Property

Administrators;

Support new Principals in getting up to speed on the Firm's systems and procedures; Proactively prepare to a high standard routine communications to clients, foreign Agents and Intellectual Property Offices for Principal(s) review; recognition of need to flag issues and understand context;

Monitor charging of cases, proactively raise bills for approval by the Principal(s) and sendout client invoices with minimal input from the Principal(s);

Act as a role model and support and encourage positive behaviours and performance within the Administrator team;

Champion new working practices within the Administrator team and offer constructive feedback to facilitate change;

Developing recognised expertise in a specific area of IP Administration.

Drives to achieve Initiative Concern for order, accuracy and quality Productivity Working with and developing others Communication Knowledge, skills and experience required (e.g. legal knowledge, ability to operate specific software applications) Good working knowledge and understanding of patent / trade mark procedural requirements and UKIPO / EPO / EUIPO practices;

Desirable skills

Experience as an IP Administrator; Patent / Trade Mark Administrator Course / CITMA Paralegal Course qualified or equivalent experience; Advanced knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook and

has the ability and willingness to learn and quickly become proficient in new computer softwareprograms;

Advanced knowledge and understanding of Document Management System (DMS); Advanced knowledge and understanding of Inprotech for case management and billing purposes. In addition to the matters identified above, you will, as a matter of course, be expected to:-

Remain in touch at all times with company developments and periodic concerns Use your experience to assist in the training of others Exhibit honest and open communication within the team Demonstrate efficient time management Be able to work on your own initiative Ensure that cover for your duties is made in your planned absence Project a professional and courteous manner
