Yolk are pleased to announce we are exclusively working with an insure-tech business that are looking for a Mid Level Java Developer to join their team in Cardiff. Their cloud-based solution provides an in-house platform to insurance companies that specialise in niche cover that cannot be provided by your everyday insurer. With offices in London and Texas, they are established, ambitious and completely self funded, looking to grow the team by another four developers by the end of the year.

This is what you’ll be doing

Your role will have a big focus on building high quality APIs, working alongside one of the Lead Java Developers. Commercial experience as a Java Developer is a must as you work across the full development life cycle, from design and development through to building your own automated tests and thorough documentation. You will be working closely with the London and Austin teams as they continue to develop and improve their high quality and robust platform. As the second employee in South Wales, it is an excellent opportunity to be part of brand-new team offering career progression.

The experience you’ll bring to the team

  • 2+ years Java development experience
  • Design and development of RESTful web services with Spring Boot
  • HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript ES6+
  • Full stack exposure would be beneficial (ReactJS, Angular, VueJS)
  • Exposure to cloud services such as AWS
  • Unit testing
  • Version control (git)
  • Docker and Kubernetes are an advantage
