Lead Software Engineer | Cardiff / Remote | Up to £80,000 | Fintech

Yolk Recruitment are working with an exciting product led fintech looking to bring their engineering team in house. They're searching an inspirational Lead Developer (PHP / Node) to join as their first internal technical hire.

The company are a well established start up operating within automotive finance. Their engineering has historically been outsourced however due to new investment & ambitious growth plans they're looking to bring it in house. As their first technical hire the Lead Engineer will work closely with the CTO to design & deliver improvements to the platform as well as build out a full engineering department capable of driving the ambitious growth plan forward. Their platform is currently built in PHP / Laravel with a long term ambition to move to JS (Node), therefore ideally the Lead Engineer will have good experience in PHP & Node.

This is an excellent opportunity to shape a market changing product as well as transition into a senior management / CTO level role.

They are based in Cardiff but the role can be mostly remote with occasional travel into the office when required.

Main Responsibilities:

​

• Split time between delivering code and technical leadership

• Lead technical discussions

• Identify areas of improvement within a project

• Input into project discussions, providing technical insight for product managers and designers

• Mentor other developers

• Manage technical roadmaps and technical debt

• Team growth & development - build our internal team to effectively own our technical delivery capacity

Key Skills:

​

• Experience leading & building complex software engineering teams

• Programming in PHP / Laravel

• Strong JavaScript (Node) would be highly beneficial

• Exposure to cloud based development (AWS / Azure)

• Agile / Scrum based development

Main Benefits:

• Salary up to £80,000 (potentially higher for the right candidate)
