Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Yolk Recruitment is excited to be supporting a well‑established and growing manufacturing organisation in Bridgend, in their search for a Maintenance Engineer to join their operation.
Operating within a highly specialised manufacturing environment, the business supplies premium, technically‑engineered products for customers across the defence and aerospace sectors. As part of ongoing investment into their facility and equipment, they are now looking for a multiskilled Maintenance Engineer with experience working on sewing machines or similar precision mechanical equipment.
Position Overview:
As a Maintenance Engineer working Monday to Thursday, Days, you will play an essential role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting efficient production. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer seeking a stable four‑day working week within a technical, precision‑engineering environment.
If you're a hands‑on engineer with strong mechanical capabilities - particularly around sewing machines or fine mechanical equipment - this role could be ideal.
This is what you'll be doing.
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on a range of production machinery.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults in a fast‑paced environment.
- Maintaining, repairing, and setting up industrial sewing machines, including timing, tensioning, adjustments, and mechanical rebuilds.
- Ensuring all work meets strict health & safety standards and site procedures.
- Supporting improvements to equipment performance and production efficiency.
- Working collaboratively with production and engineering teams to ensure smooth operation.
The experience you'll bring to the team.
- Previous maintenance engineering experience within manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding skills.
- Experience working with sewing machines or similar precision mechanical equipment (essential or highly desirable).
- A proactive, problem‑solving approach with strong attention to detail.
- Recognised engineering qualifications (NVQ, HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent).
- Ability to work independently and within a small, highly skilled team.
- Willingness to work a Monday-Thursday days pattern.
And this is what you'll get in return.
- A salary of £30,000 - £35,000, depending on experience.
- A stable four‑day working week - long weekends every week.
- A supportive, friendly, and technically skilled working environment.
- Long‑term career stability and training opportunities.
- Exposure to specialist equipment and precision engineering.
- Employee benefits package.
- On‑site parking.
