Manufacturing Engineer

A new opportunity has been created for a Manufacturing Engineer with a background and knowledge of mechanical engineering and machining processes, to join this leading South Wales employer. 

The company is a well-established and innovative engineering business with a high value niche product that’s an essential component to a broad customer base operating across numerous sectors.  


This is what you’ll be doing as Manufacturing Engineer

  • You’ll work with all departments in the business to understand the company and processes, and deliver in areas including:

  • Generation of accurate Routes and Bill of Materials

  • Utilise SAP to create routes and BOM’s

  • Provide assistance in methods and planning for all departments

  • Raise production orders for Component and Rod business

  • Estimate manufacturing costs for the Sales team and customer enquiries

  • Provide Departmental Managers with assistance in planning work schedules, calculating capacity and stock management

  • Work with Engineering team on continuous improvement activities, developing systems for optimisation of manufacturing methods across the company

  • Analyse variation in planned versus actual times

  • Assist in methods and planning for manufacturing processes, improvement of routing and BOM’s as required

  • Work to ISO quality management standards


The experience you’ll bring to the team as Manufacturing Engineer

  • Mechanical Engineering, to a minimum NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.

  • Experience of machining processes

  • Experience of MRP/ERP systems

  • Ability to read CAD drawings

  • Excellent working methods - organised, methodical approach

  • Good communication skills

  • Experience in planning and scheduling of work and materials

  • Good team working skills

  • Good understanding of continuous improvement and optimisation processes
