Manufacturing Engineer

£45,000 - £50,000 per annum plus benefits

Oxford

 

I am proud to bring to market this unique and brand-new opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer working with one of my global manufacturing clients based in Oxford. Your main responsibility within this role will be to increase profitability by driving improvement in productivity and overall equipment effectiveness. You will do this through systematic analysis and preparation of improvement plans thus drive business strategy.

 

Providing continuous improvement and focused problem solving you will play a key role within an innovative high-performance environment.

 

As Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for defining the manufacturing process in consultation with the Manufacturing Manager, including cycle or Tact time development and confirmation.

 

As Manufacturing Engineer you’ll be

  • Assisting in assessing feasibility on new business opportunities.

  • Assisting and defining the production process for new business activities including the securing of any Capital Expenditure.

  • Participate in new business project team activities working to support flawless launches.

  • In consultation with the Manufacturing Manager to be responsible for the manufacturing element of new product introduction. This includes the initial feasibility stage, process definition, BOM support, tooling sequence and quotation, assembly fixtures and any capital expenditure, as applicable.

  • Supporting the introduction of new products and processes by the creation of work instructions.

  • Working with the team to support the initial ramp up of manufacture to include creation of work instructions, tooling sign off, machinery sign off, run at rate and tool tagging.

  • Take the lead with regards to Lean activities working toward productivity improvement, scrap reduction and a reduction in waste.

  • Developing engineer improvements into the process on new parts by using advanced planning techniques, with a view to target a “right first time” introduction of product into manufacturing via the use of Feasibility studies etc.

  • Participation in the continuous improvement team where / when required.

What you’ll bring to the team

 

  • An understanding and working knowledge of business Quality system IATF 16949

  • An understanding and working knowledge within the business Environmental system ISO14001

  • An understanding and working knowledge of the business system VDA 6.3

  • Experience of Identifying and implementing process improvements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
