Legal Assistant (Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence)

Permanent, full time (Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
Regional traditional law firm non volume
Annual Leave: 23 days annual leave plus BH's plus 1 day for birthday and 1 personal day
The firm combines a fresh and forward-thinking approach with a client-focused, local feel to deliver a range of award-winning, quality services. This role will play a crucial role in supporting our fee earners with the management of Personal Injury cases. Under supervision, you will support an appropriately sized caseload of personal injury cases.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Legal Assistant in our Personal Injury Team, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting our fee earners with the management of their caseload of personal injury cases.
- Drafting Claim Notification Forms.
- Drafting variety of court documents including witness statements.
- Drafting instructions to counsel and medical experts.
- Drafting Schedules of Loss and court documents.
- Reviewing medical evidence.
- Preparing bundles.
- Liaising with clients where necessary.
- Conducting legal research.
- Assessing and advising on evidence, liability, and quantum.
- Working efficiently, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing tasks.
- Maintaining strong file management skills.
- Collaborating with the team to achieve unit objectives.
- Communicating clearly and effectively.
Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as directed by your line manager or Director.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- You will be a personal injury paralegal or legal assistant with some experience in assisting or handling your own litigated caseload. Multi-track experience is advantageous as the caseload will be truly varied.
- You will have experience of running cases through a low value claims portal.
- Knowledge of personal injury case handling is essential.
- Familiarity with CPR, rules on evidence, litigation process, and funding as applicable.
- Ability to assess and advise on evidence, causation, liability, and quantum.
- Strong ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines, and prioritise tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including drafting.
- Competence in using Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Experience in handling Fast Track claims, including the litigation process.
- Proven ability in numeracy and strong verbal and written communication skills.
