This is an exciting opportunity to join us as a Principal Developer to influence and progress the strategic direction of our organisation in its adoption and ongoing use of the Cloud.
Responsibilities include:
- You will work with delivery team and business teams across the business, leading the day-to-day technical and best practice choices, ensuring that our cloud adoption and ongoing implementation and software development meets industry best practice for quality and continuous delivery. You may line manage and mentor some senior technical colleagues.
- Working closely with the Enterprise and solution software architect practice ensuring that our cloud designs meet the needs of the business while not accumulating technical debt.
- Ensuring that the whole lifecycle of cloud adoption is managed
- Working with practice heads of various technical teams ensuring that we focus on relevant cloud skills.
- Engaging across wider government and industry, ensuring that we both contribute and learn from other organisations around cloud adoptions and implementations.
- Providing recommendations to the senior leadership on cloud related technology, design, and implementation
- Practices and approaches to improve support for the cloud in delivery teams are introduced, working with the principal developer (Support), and the Digital Delivery Capability to support the company’s support model.
Skills / Experience:
Essential:
- Extensive experience of one or more cloud platforms (Azure, AWS GCP) in a software development, technical design, operating, or architecture capacity
- Extensive experience of technical leadership (Implementing cloud solutions at an organisational level)
- High level of knowledge and experience in lifecycle management, support and operation of digital products and services
- Extensive experience of software, systems, or data design
- Experience in the delivery of large-scale technology projects providing key technical insights and guidance
- Practical extensive experience of multiple modern programming languages (Python, Java, .Net)
- Track record of designing, developing, and managing cloud solutions across a range of applications and services.
- Expertise with “infrastructure as code” (IAC) and using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Puppet, & Chef.
- Expertise in development process automation, including continuous delivery techniques, continuous integration, and other DevOps related practices
- Experience of multiple cloud platforms in a software development, technical design, operating, or architecture capacity
- Experience of edge computing
- Formal cloud certifications
