A successful and rapidly growing manufacturing business has a new opportunity for a Production Supervisor, well suited to a background in either pharmaceutical or food industries. While envisaged to be a 12 month Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity the business is investing in new lines and large project works which will result in continued expansion, and so there is the potential for permanence.
The business has over 20 years’ of success with long standing relationships with a broad, high profile customer base and so provides security in uncertain times, and has a healthy culture with many staff choosing to remain with the business for over 15 years.
This is what you’ll be doing
This is a 2 shift role working Monday-Friday 6 - 2 and 2 – 10, and some short shifts on either a Saturday or Sunday, averaging 2/5.
You’ll be responsible for Productivity, Quality and Health and Safety on your shift, reporting to the Production Manager on site and with 35 indirect reports via three team leaders. It’s a fast paced but well ordered environment, requiring someone with experience coordinating resource in line with changing demand.
You will:
Ensure products are produced in line with Quality and Customer specifications.
Ensure Health & Safety Regulations are adhered to
Ensure that production demands are met in full and communicated to the appropriate departments including, Planning, Sales and Supply Chain
Support the development of your teams to meet the needs of the operation
Communicate with Supervisory staff any changes or requirements that are needed on a daily basis
Plan, monitor and appraise job results.
Coach, counsel and discipline employees.
Initiate, co-ordinate and enforce systems, policies and procedures in order to improve efficiency.
Play a role in recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees.
Complete the production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities and adhering to deadlines.
Revise schedules if needed and resolve any problems to ensure production is completed in a safe and timely manner.
Liaise with all departments including Maintenance and HR to ensure all resources are available when required.
Create and communicate a daily shift report
Carry out bi-annual PDRs with Team Leaders
Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel
The experience you’ll bring to the team
Previous experience in co-ordinating/leading teams in a manufacturing environment, pharmaceutical or food essential.
Previous responsibility for all aspects of the operation: safety, quality, output
Competent in use of computer systems, MS Word/Excel
