Purchasing Assistant / Expeditor
Swansea
£25,000 per annum

Yolk Recruitment are currently working exclusively with one of our key clients to hire a Purchasing Assistant. Your overall responsibility will be to provide support to the Company’s supply chain activity through managing all activity in relation to ordering and expediting purchased items, ensuring the business maintains an adequate supply of necessary materials.
 
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
 
  • Purchase goods and services in line with generated purchase requisitions
  • Raising purchase orders on ‘SAP by Design’ and confirming acknowledgements received
  • Expediting deliveries
  • Managing transport of materials, where required - including managing international shipments from suppliers
  • Ensuring correct booking-in of stock
  • Managing proofs of delivery and reconciling to purchase orders
  • Monitoring stock levels
  • Building relationships with suppliers to assist with supplier lead time reductions
  • Providing input to production meetings to ensure material availability in support of production requirements
  • Ensuring the MRP system is set up correctly in terms of MOQ’s, lead times and buffer stock
 
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
 
  • You’ll have experience of working in the purchasing function of a manufacturing organisation, processing purchase orders
  • You’ll possess a working knowledge of Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook
  • A knowledge of international shipping requirements would be a huge advantage
  • SAP by Design experience – not essential as training will be provided
  • You’ll be organised and methodical in your approach
  • You’ll possess an excellent eye for detail
  • You’ll be able to interpret complex data
  • You’ll have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • You’ll be pro-active, with a problem-solving approach
