Quality Assurance Manager

Salary: £35,000 - £43,000 per annum plus benefits

A new opportunity has been created to play a key role in driving change and continuous improvement activities with this innovative and dynamic food manufacturing client.  As Quality Manager you will be offered security, autonomy and a varied and rewarding role ensuring the overall food safety culture is achieved. In addition, you will support and lead on a broad range of manufacturing improvement projects.  The role of Quality Manager reports directly to the Technical Manager where you will be expected to achieve business targets and drive change.

As Quality Manager you’ll be…..

  • Managing and developing the QA team providing support and identifying specific training required

  • Engaging with your team and the wider manufacturing team achieving the overall business strategy

  • Manging customer complaint resolution resulting in reduction

  • Improving and engaging the QA Team and other departmental staff to deliver higher factory standards through training and coaching programmes

  • Investigate all food safety and quality non-conformities and incidents ensuring that root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventative actions have been identified and closed out.

  • Liaise with departmental management teams to eliminate reoccurring non-conformities and provide guidance and direction to continuously improve factory standards.

  • Communicating non-conformities and incidents at daily, weekly and monthly review meetings.

  • Ensure the quality management system procedures for the QA function are embedded within the QA team in order to drive excellence and best practice.

  • The role encompasses both office-based tasks and hands on involvement in the production environment. ·Co-host Customer, EHO, TSO, BRC and3rd Party audits.

  • Maintain in conjunction with the technical systems officer relevant site systems and documentation to the required standards, and continually review and improve the quality management system in line with legislation, BRC requirements and customer codes of practice.

  • Understanding site and customer key performance indicators (KPI), measuring, monitoring and communicating on KPl's on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

  • Provide the necessary information and complete relevant sections of the departmental and customer KPI reports in line with guidelines and schedule provided.

  • Understanding customer complaint trends and manage investigations through the QA team, ensuring completion and handover to the customer services administrator in a timely manner.

  • To support and assist in the closure of any non-conformities identified during customer complaint investigations, internal and external audits ensuring root cause analysis, communication with relevant departments, effective corrective action implementation, and training as required to support the close out, competency checks and monitoring is completed.

  • Supplier and raw material performance monitoring. Liaise and support the technical compliance team with supplier and raw material non-conformance issues.

  • To manage and coordinate in line with the relevant schedules internal and external quality panels, GMP audits, foreign body audits, hygiene audits, locker audits, fabrication audits and external environment audits to continually improve factory standards in line with legislation, BRC and customer codes of practice.

  • Ensure information relating to key quality issues and/or concerns are effectively reported in a timely manner to ensure the customer specification and business needs are met.

  • Ensure records that demonstrate effective control of product safety, legality and quality are retained in a suitable secure environment.

The experience and behaviours you’ll bring to the team will include….

  • Degree/HND/HNC in Food Science or related subject

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role preferred.

  • Must have a good level of English literacy and numeracy. Attention to detail is essential and a conscientious nature to ensure all tasks are completed against priority.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Good PC skills

  • Excellent knowledge on microbiological standards

  • Good knowledge of working with external laboratories and managing a lab tracker

  • Good knowledge of raw materials

  • HACCP, TACCP and VACCP knowledge

  • Red Tractor knowledge

  • RSPO knowledge

  • Previous experience in Co-hosting customer audits, EHO, TSO, BRC and 3rd Party

  • Internal Auditing experience and knowledge.

  • Management and completion of traceability

  • General manufacturing and processing knowledge

  • Knowledge of key legislation relating to the food industry
