​Senior Buyer

£35,000 + Bonus

A new opportunity has been created for a Senior Buyer to join this well-established manufacturing business, as a result of continued growth and significant sustained investment. This role is well suited to an experienced Buyer with a demonstrable record of negotiating and procuring components and materials in a highly regulated sector and is looking for an opportunity to join a forward thinking and successful business with ongoing opportunities for personal and professional development.

As Senior Buyer, this is what you’ll be doing:

• Evaluate sales quotes to select vendors for quoting process opportunity

• Manage all vendor and communications related, but not limited to component or material orders including transport or carrier damage, non-conforming component or material, and paperwork discrepancy

• Set goals to track KPIs and measure results in accordance with the site’s vision and cost saving goals. Utilise data analytics to review supplier performance on KPIs and drive continuous improvement

• Support existing and new purchases with the selection of the most capable, cost effective suppliers to meet the material specifications

• Drive vendor management to ensure the highest level of quality and service. Selects and partners with key suppliers to ensure cost-effective, high quality delivery of products

• Partner with key functions including; finance, business development and operations to drive results that alight to the site’s goals and objectives

• Develop innovative and bold strategies to drive savings in new ways while managing, engaging and promoting continuous cost reduction and quality improvement efforts

• Be a liaison between vendors, business unit and operations teams to deal with material or service issues in a timely manner.

• Identify and leverage opportunities for continuous improvement and manage financial risk. Analyse purchase price variances compared to quote.

• Ensure that all purchases are suitable for production requirements, manage inventory levels, warehouse capacity and slow-moving inventory

• Ensure adherence to all company policies and processes for the entire procurement team

The experience you’ll bring to the team

​

• Previous experience in a procurement function within manufacturing and a highly regulated organisation (Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, Food/Drink)

• Demonstrable experience of managing supplier relationship(s) or accounts.

• Ability to build rapport, negotiate with and influence external and internal stakeholders to drive results

• Capable of working effectively with others·       

• Experience of inventory management

• Has an understanding of metrics and cost savings with the ability to effectively analyse supplier, stock and cost information

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage stakeholder expectations.

• Proficient IT skills; fully competent at using Microsoft Office packages and the ability to learn our in-house systems

• Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English and capable of adapting language to the situation or audience

• Demonstrates a flexible approach to work, working hours and undertaking a variety of tasks

• Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines

• A strong understanding of Continuous Improvement
