Yolk Recruitment, a leading recruitment agency, is currently partnering with our client, a prominent manufacturing company, to find a skilled and motivated Shift Engineer (Mechanical Bias) for their site in Ledbury.

Job Purpose:

As a Shift Engineer (Mechanical Bias), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and equipment. Your main responsibilities will include completing preventative maintenance tasks, participating in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities, responding to breakdown repairs, documenting work completed, and contributing to the risk assessment process. This position requires a strong focus on electrical and mechanical skills within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PPMs) on machines according to the agreed schedule and standards.
  • Actively participate in TPM activities to optimize machinery performance.
  • Respond to breakdown repairs, collaborating closely with the Shift Team Leader.
  • Document all work completed during each shift.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of parts and consumables used.
  • Undertake training as required to enhance technical skills.
  • Develop knowledge of the production processes to assist in fault finding.
  • Contribute to risk assessment activities across the site.
  • Follow a 12-hour shift rota pattern (2 days on, 3 off, 2 nights on, 2 off, 3 days on, 2 off, 2 nights on, 3 off).

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Time served apprentice with NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and pneumatics would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Health and Safety awareness is critical.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
