Tax Trust & Succession Associate Solicitor- Cheltenham

 We have a fantastic opportunity for a 3-6 PQE Associate Solicitor to join a thriving Tax, Trusts and Succession team in the Private Client division, based in Cheltenham

This is what you will be doing?

The Private Client division in Cheltenham is made up of two practice groups which work closely together, being: Tax, Trusts and Succession; and Private Property. Each is recognised by clients, intermediaries, directories and peers as pre-eminent at advising individuals, trustees, executors, families and charities in relation to their personal affairs. They are experienced in handling a full range of work for their private clients, whilst adding our particular expertise in many specialist areas including:

•         charitable trusts and philanthropy

•         estate planning and succession

•         private property (both transactions and management)

•         probate and estate administration

•         rural businesses and landed estates

•         tax

•         trust and probate disputes

•         trust establishment, management and taxation

The Right Candidate?

 This is a fantastic opportunity for a 3-6 PQE Associate to join a thriving Tax, Trusts and Succession team in the Private Client Division. Many colleagues in the team are leaders in their particular fields. And with increasing pressure on legal fees, particularly in the current climate, part of their Private Client business plan is for as much work as possible, including UK (as opposed to international) work and the administration of estates and trusts, to be undertaken in offices outside London. This plan is replicated across other divisions, ensuring that the Cheltenham office will continue to play a key role in the future success of the Firm. The successful candidate will have excellent people skills, experience of advising a wide range of UK and international clients on their succession and tax planning and be looking to develop their careers within a friendly collegiate team that is widely recognised for its expertise in this area. They must be prepared to work hard and enjoy being challenged, with the rewards that that will bring.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities (this is a broad but not exhaustive list):

•         provide practical and commercial legal advice to clients in a clear and succinct manner

•         manage a substantial and varied workload efficiently and cost effectively with supervision, appropriate to level of expertise

•         draft more complex documents with minimum instruction and supervision, making use of appropriate precedents

•         apply a commercial approach to research and evaluate relevance and accuracy in delivery of advice

•         where appropriate, delegate, co-ordinate and supervise the work of more junior members of the team

•         actively participate in client marketing opportunities such as client seminars, presentations and pitches

•         identify client opportunities and take appropriate steps to follow through

•         contribute to group knowledge and know-how initiatives

The ideal candidate must:

•         be confident to work autonomously and as part of a team

•         demonstrate excellent time management skills

•         be organised and capable of running a significant number of files and work matters simultaneously

•         have the ability to communicate effectively and develop working relations at all levels

•         be confident in both verbal and written communication with a diverse range of clients

•         have a flexible approach and willing to go the extra mile
