Are You an Apprentice-Trained CNC or Toolroom Engineer Ready to Step Into Manufacturing Engineering?
This is a rare opportunity to join a highly invested, globally recognised production site and move into a Manufacturing Engineering team focused on automation and advanced manufacturing technology.
The site is expanding rapidly, investing heavily in robotics, CNC automation and process optimisation. As part of that growth, they are building the next generation of Manufacturing Engineers - starting with Automation Technicians on shift.
If you come from a CNC, toolroom or automation background and want more than just setting and running machines, this offers a clear long-term pathway.
What You'll Be Doing
Working within the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will support and develop automation capability across a wide range of advanced production equipment.
This includes:
- Programming and modifying industrial robots (Fanuc & Yaskawa Motoman)
- Supporting CNC, EDM and automated production cells
- Assisting with implementation of new robotic cells
- Optimising automation to improve OEE and performance
- Using CAD (Siemens NX) to support tooling and fixture development
- Acting as first response for automation-related production issues
- Progressing towards Senior Manufacturing Engineer level over time
You'll be hands-on on the shop floor, learning the equipment in detail, building robot programming capability and developing into a key part of the engineering function.
Formal robot training courses are provided where required.
This Role Is Ideal For
- CNC machinists looking to move into automation
- Toolroom apprentices wanting progression
- Engineers with some robot exposure who want to build on it
- Manufacturing technicians ready to step up
- Automation-biased maintenance engineers seeking a process-focused move
This suits engineers who understand machining fundamentals and want to build structured automation expertise.
What You'll Need
- Strong engineering fundamentals (apprenticeship or equivalent)
- CNC or toolroom background highly desirable
- Some exposure to automation or robotics
- CAD experience essential (NX ideal, but transferable systems considered)
- Practical mechanical aptitude
- Ambition to progress into Manufacturing Engineering
- PLC experience is beneficial but not essential.
Most importantly, you'll want to develop and build a long-term career.
What's In It For You
This is a secure, well-invested site with excellent retention and long-term stability.
You'll benefit from:
- Annual Site bonus
- Annual pay review
- 10% employer pension contribution
- 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
- Additional 3-day Christmas shutdown (not taken from annual leave)
- Life assurance up to 6x salary
- Company sickness scheme (6 months full pay / 6 months half pay)
- Funded training and progression to senior engineer routes.
- Overtime opportunities
- On-site parking and discounted canteen
- Attendance and long service award schemes
More Than Just Another Shift Role
This is not a stop-gap hire. It is a growth position within a forward-thinking Manufacturing Engineering team.
If you're technically strong, ambitious, and ready to move beyond traditional machining or maintenance into advanced automation and manufacturing engineering, this is the opportunity.
