📌 Shift Maintenance Engineer
📍 Pembrokeshire
💰 £48,000 per annum + excellent benefits
Yolk Recruitment are partnering with a globally recognised FMCG manufacturer with a major presence in the Uk, operating a highly invested production facility in West Wales. The site is a leading producer supplying into retailers and customers across the UK and beyond.
The business has seen significant investment in recent years, with new lines, modern equipment and a strong focus on efficiency, reliability and sustainable manufacturing. Their purpose centred culture is built around quality, safety and continuous improvement, and they are actively working towards ambitious environmental and carbon reduction goals.
This organisation is known for its inclusive and people focused approach, offering structured training, excellent long term career prospects and a comprehensive benefits package for its teams. Engineering is viewed as a critical function on site, with a stable, multi skilled team and supportive leadership who value ideas from the shop floor and encourage ongoing development.
What You'll Do:
Working as part of a close knit engineering team in a high volume FMCG environment, you will keep a modern production facility running safely, efficiently and reliably on a 4 on 4 off continental shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights).
You will:
- Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance on a range of production machinery, keeping downtime to a minimum and output to a maximum
- Fault find across mechanical and/or electrical systems, identifying root causes rather than just treating symptoms
- Support continuous improvement activity, spotting opportunities to enhance reliability, efficiency and safety across the lines
- Work closely with production colleagues to prioritise work, respond quickly to breakdowns and keep the plant running smoothly
- Make sure all work is completed safely, accurately recorded and compliant with site, H&S and regulatory standards
- Contribute to small projects, modifications and upgrades as the site continues to invest in new equipment and capability
- Play your part in a stable, multi skilled engineering team of around four engineers per shift, supporting and sharing knowledge with others
What You'll Bring:
- Time served apprenticeship or minimum NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline (mechanical or electrical)
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer or similar in manufacturing, ideally within FMCG, food, drink or a high speed production environment
- Strong fault finding skills, able to diagnose issues across mechanical and/or electrical systems and implement robust fixes
- A proactive approach to maintenance, with experience of PPM and a continuous improvement mindset
- A solid understanding of health and safety in a manufacturing setting and the confidence to work safely at all times
- The ability to work effectively on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, including days and nights
- Good communication skills and a team focused attitude, comfortable working with operators, engineers and leadership
- Self motivation, enthusiasm and the resilience to thrive in a busy, fast moving environment
Why You Should Apply:
- Highly competitive salary of £48,000
- Excellent pension scheme where your contributions are topped up by the employer at a very attractive level
- Access to a flexible benefits platform, including the option to buy private medical cover at a reduced rate
- Secure, permanent role with a global, well invested manufacturer that continues to grow and add new lines
- Join a settled, supportive engineering team where your ideas for improvements will be listened to and acted on
- Genuine opportunities for training and development as you progress your career within a large organisation
- Work in a picturesque part of West Wales, while still gaining experience with a complex, modern manufacturing site
